I love instant messaging. So many better choices than email. And the great thing about message apps is that there is so many to choose from:

  • Email - got to have it for work, got to have it to create accounts
  • Skype - go to application for voice for most of my clients. Lots of text to other programmers.
  • iChat - Apple, not used any more
  • Jabber - Was my go to app, 99% of people I chatted with used Jabber, no longer.
  • GoTo Meeting - Company stuff. Very annoying.
  • Citrix - don't get me started.
  • Google Chat - was using jabber. Still use it for random friends and talking to people at RMIT
  • SMS / Texting - Friends and family and the Dentist (well, bookings)
  • WhatsApp - Texting awesome, but only from the phone. Not compatible with my tablets, difficult to get working on Web app (only link from iPhone).
  • Web applications messaging - like built into Facebook. So many of these.
    • Facebook Messenger
